About Sepang International Circuit

The Sepang International Circuit is Malaysia’s flagship motorsport facility, located near Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, Selangor. Opened in 1999 and designed by Hermann Tilke, the circuit quickly became one of Asia’s most important international racing venues and a long-time fixture on the Formula 1 and MotoGP calendars. The 5.543 km (3.444 miles) layout features 15 corners and is characterised by its extreme track width, twin main straight, heavy braking zones and high speed sweeps. Signature sections include the Turn 1–2 complex, the long back straight, and the technical final sector leading onto the pit straight. The wide racing surface allows for multiple racing lines, making Sepang exceptional for overtaking and close competition. Sepang has hosted the Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix, MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix, Super GT, GT World Challenge Asia, endurance racing, manufacturer testing and a busy programme of public car and motorcycle track days. With its tropical climate, modern infrastructure and global motorsport pedigree, Sepang is one of Southeast Asia’s most important circuits for drivers and motorsport photography.
