About Kyalami

Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit is the premier motorsport venue in South Africa and one of the most historic circuits on the African continent. Located north of Johannesburg near Midrand, the circuit originally opened in 1961 and gained worldwide recognition as the long-time home of the South African Grand Prix in Formula 1. Following a major redevelopment completed in 2016, Kyalami was completely modernised and now holds FIA Grade 2 certification. The current 4.529 km layout features 16 corners, significant elevation changes and a flowing, high-speed character with modern safety standards. Kyalami hosts international GT racing, endurance championships, touring car racing, motorcycle racing, regional championships and premium manufacturer track events. It is also a major destination for public car and motorcycle track days in southern Africa. With its dramatic elevation, fast sweepers and expansive metropolitan backdrop, Kyalami is one of the most striking circuits in the Southern Hemisphere for drivers and motorsport photographers.
