About Circuito do Estoril

Circuito do Estoril, officially known as Autódromo do Estoril, is a major international race circuit located near Cascais, just west of Lisbon, Portugal. Opened in 1972, it became world-famous as the long-time home of the Portuguese Grand Prix in Formula 1 from 1984 to 1996 and later as a key venue for MotoGP until 2012. The 4.182 km layout features 13 corners and a mix of long straights, technical mid-speed corners and heavy braking zones. The final corner leading onto the main straight is particularly critical for lap time and overtaking opportunities. Estoril has hosted Formula 1, MotoGP, World Superbike, endurance racing, touring car championships and international testing. Today it remains a popular venue for national racing series, manufacturer testing, driver training and public car and motorcycle track days. Its coastal Atlantic climate, proximity to Lisbon and strong motorsport heritage make Estoril one of Portugal’s most important racing and testing venues for competitors and photographers alike.
