Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is a purpose-built, FIA Grade 1 motorsport facility located just outside Austin, Texas. Opened in 2012, it was the first purpose-built Formula 1 circuit in the United States and remains one of the premier racing venues in North America. The 3.426-mile (5.513 km) counter-clockwise layout is known for its dramatic elevation changes and technical variety. The lap begins with a steep uphill run into the signature Turn 1 hairpin before diving into a high-speed, flowing sequence inspired by classic European circuits. The middle sector features heavy braking zones and long straights, while the final sector requires precision and traction. COTA hosts a packed international calendar including the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, MotoGP, NASCAR, IndyCar support events, major endurance racing, club championships and public track days.
