Sebring International Raceway is one of the most iconic and challenging circuits in motorsport. Located in Florida, USA, the track is best known for hosting the 12 Hours of Sebring, one of the world’s premier endurance races.
What makes Sebring unique is its rough, bumpy surface, wide layout, and unforgiving nature. Originally built on a former airfield, the circuit places heavy demands on both car and driver, rewarding smoothness, patience, and mechanical sympathy.
Sebring measures approximately 3.74 miles (6.02 km) and features 17 corners, many of which are long, flat, and deceptively technical.
Key layout characteristics:
Sebring is less about rhythm and more about survival, consistency, and exit speed.
Turn 1
A fast right hander at the end of the front straight. Braking stability is critical, as the bumpy surface can easily unsettle the car.
Turns 3, 4 & 5
A technical sequence where patience matters. Over driving here quickly compromises the following straight.
Turn 7 (Hairpin)
One of the slowest corners on the track. A clean exit is essential, as it leads onto a long acceleration zone.
Turn 10
A fast left hander taken over bumps. Confidence and smooth steering inputs are key.
Sunset Bend (Turn 17)
A long, sweeping final corner that seems to last forever. Tyre management and patience are critical to maintain speed onto the front straight.
Sebring rewards disciplined, mechanical sympathetic driving.
Key tips:
Driving smoothly at Sebring often results in faster lap times than pushing aggressively.
Sebring punishes impatience more than almost any other circuit.
Sebring hosts regular track days and testing events, attracting drivers from around the world. The circuit’s wide layout makes it suitable for multiple experience levels, but the rough surface means proper preparation is essential.
Cars with stiff setups often struggle here, suspension compliance and tyre management matter more than outright stiffness.
